Dr. Susan Abdel-Rahman is a pediatric researcher, innovator, educator, and clinician with 25 years of experience in academic medicine. She is a former professor of pediatrics and holder of the Marion Merrell Dow/Missouri Chair in Pediatric Clinical Pharmacology. She also directed Health Care Innovation for the Children’s Mercy Research Institute, served as a Section Chief at Children’s Mercy Hospital, directed an NIH funded T32 fellowship program, and provided clinical care on the Clinical Pharmacology consult service before transitioning into her current as Chief Scientific Advisor for a Kansas City-based technology start-up. Dr Rahman chairs the Drug Utilization Review Board for the state of Missouri’s Medicaid program and serves as the immediate past-President of the American Society for Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics. |

Dr. AlEissa is a consultant Spine Surgeon, associate professor, and the head of orthopedic and spine services at King Abdulaziz Medical City, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. His main practice involves different aspects of complex spine pathologies. Dr. AlEissa has led the Orthopedic Scientific Council in the SCFHS, Saudi Arabia. He is currently a member of higher medical authority at the Ministry of Health. Dr. AlEissa is the founding president of Saudi Spine Society, and he is a Co-founding member of SPINE20 and the chairman for SPINE20 meeting inaugural in Riyadh, 2020. Dr. AlEissa was awarded King Abdulaziz Medal of Excellence by the order of King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz. |

2014 and 2022, Prof. Alonso served the World Health Organization (WHO) as director of the Global Malaria Programme (2014-2022). Prior to that, he was the founding director of the Barcelona Institute for Global Health (ISGlobal) (2010), the scientific director leading the establishment of the Manhiça Health Research Center (CISM) in Mozambique (1996) and was part of the leadership team that established the European Developing Countries Clinical Trial Partnership (EDCTP) (2004). He has authored more than 400 papers in peer reviewed journals, with a strong focus on malaria epidemiology, and development and testing of new control tools and strategies, including insecticide treated bed nets, medicines and vaccines. He has also researched other diseases affecting most vulnerable populations particularly in Africa, including tuberculosis, diarrheal diseases and acute respiratory infections, among others. Prof. Alonso has lectured in universities across four continents, has mentored many young scientists and directed more than 25 PhD thesis. Recipient of several national and international awards, including the Ross Medal (University of London), an Honorary International Fellow of the ASTMH, the Frontiers of Knowledge Awards (BBVA) and the Carlo IV Award (Royal Society of Medicine), he has served on several national and international committees and is an Honorary Trustee of the Manhiça Foundation. |

Isabella Annesi-Maesano is research director at INSERM, the French National Institute of Health and Medical Research, and professor of environmental epidemiology. She is deputy director of the Desbrest Institute of Epidemiology and Public Health, a research unit of INSERM and Montpellier University, and heads the Ethics Committee of the Institute of Research and Development. A respiratory epidemiologist by training, Ms Annesi-Maesano’s research interests lie in explaining the etiopathogenesis of allergic and respiratory diseases, considering environmental risk factors such as air pollution and climate change. She has led several international research projects and served with numerous international medical societies in the field of allergic and respiratory diseases. |

He is Full Professor of “Microbiology and Clinical Microbiology” at the Dept of Molecular Medicine – Sapienza University. He took a position at Institute of Virology/Sapienza University (1989) and then at the Department of Biomedicine/University of Pisa (1992). His group’s research currently focuses on interferons and pathogenesis, control, and diagnosis of several viral infections: SARS- CoV-2, HIV, HCV, main respiratory viruses, and HPV. He participates in several national and international research projects. He has authored and co-authored more than 300 peer-reviewed articles and is now serving as co-editor or member of the editorial board of several peer-reviewed Journals. |
