![]() Anna Teresa Palamara Main position/role: Director of the Department of Infectious Diseases, Italian National Institute of Health (ISS); Full Professor of Microbiology, Sapienza University of Rome, Italy Anna Teresa Palamara is Full Professor of Microbiology at Sapienza University of Rome and, since June 2021, Director of the Department Infectious Diseases at the Italian National Institute of Health (ISS). She’s member of the Scientific Board of the “Institute Pasteur Italia-Cenci Bolognetti” Foundation, Rome. Since 2006 she was member of National Health Council, Ministry of Health and from 2014 to 2018, she was appointed as President of Section III (Health and Ptevention) in the same Council. From 2013 to 2019 she was the President of italian Society of Microbiology and she’s currently the President of the National Board of italian Professor of Microbiology. Her research interests are mainly focused on microrganisms/host interactions, molecular mechanisms underlying microbial related diseases, innovative antimicrobial strategies, and, more recently, genomic and epidemiological monitoring. She is author of more than 200 papers in peer-reviewed journals. |
