Marian Burchardt is a professor of sociology at the University of Leipzig, co-director of the Leipzig Lab Global Health and senior research partner of the Max Planck Institute for the Study of Religious and Ethnic Diversity in Göttingen. Currently, he heads research projects on new digital technologies in healthcare systems in Ghana and Malawi andon quarantine in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. He is the author of Faith in the Times of AIDS (Palgrave Macmillan 2015) and co-editor of Topographies of Faith: Religion in Urban Spaces (Brill 2013) and Affective Trajectories: Religion and Emotion in African Cityscapes (Duke, 2019).
