Dr Marco Falcone is Associate Professor of Infectious Diseases at University of Pisa (Italy). He received his medical degree from the University of Roma “Sapienza”. His research focuses on the clinical and molecular epidemiology of infections with with multi-drug resistant (MDR) organisms, with the intent of translation of knowledge into optimal prevention and treatment of these infections. He has participated as principal investigator in national and international clinical studies on anti-infective agents, and has published several studies on endocarditis, bacteremia, pneumonia and other infectious syndromes caused by MDR microrganisms. Invited speaker in several national and international conferences and congresses. To date he published more than 180 indexed articles, with 6579 citations and a H-index of 43 (Scopus access).
He is Secretary of the Italian Society of Infectious Diseases and Tropical Medicine (SIMIT) and Chair of the ESCMID Study Group for the Infections in the Elderly (ESGIE). He works as Infectious Diseases consultant at Pisa University Hospital, Pisa (Italy).
