Isabella Annesi-Maesano is research director at INSERM, the French National Institute of Health and Medical Research, and professor of environmental epidemiology. She is deputy director of the Desbrest Institute of Epidemiology and Public Health, a research unit of INSERM and Montpellier University, and heads the Ethics Committee of the Institute of Research and Development. A respiratory epidemiologist by training, Ms Annesi-Maesano’s research interests lie in explaining the etiopathogenesis of allergic and respiratory diseases, considering environmental risk factors such as air pollution and climate change. She has led several international research projects and served with numerous international medical societies in the field of allergic and respiratory diseases.
