He has a background in biochemistry, nutrition and medical research with experience in pharmaceutical industry R&D in the cardiovascular and neuroscience therapeutic areas. Subsequently, during the past two decades, he has provided advice on biosciences policy issues to a range of public sector organisations, particularly academies of science and medicine and their international networks, parliamentary groups and industry. In recent projects for the European Academies Science Advisory Council (EASAC) and InterAcademy Partnership he has worked on multiple issues for climate change and health with particularly regard to the inclusive and multidisciplinary search for solutions for mitigation and health adaptation.
