Dean of the Faculty of Medicine (2011-2020), Hélène Boisjoly is the first woman to hold this position at Université de Montréal, a 180-year-old institution in Canada. MD MPH FRCS(c) in ophthalmology, cornea surgeon and scientist, she held a number of key positions in academia and medical education such as Chair of a Department and Scientific director of a Vision Research Network. She is a member of the Order of Canada and of the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences. She received the 2019 Lifetime Achievement Award from the Canadian Ophthalmological Society and the 2021 Distinguished Alumni Achievement Award from the Harvard Ophthalmology Department.
