He has been Italian Representative in the EB of WHO, Head of Department of Woman and Child Health and Public Health of Fondazione Policlinico Universitario Agostino Gemelli IRCCS – UCSC and Past President of EUPHA. Editor of European Journal of Public Health and Oxford Handbook of Public Health Practice. Founding Editor of Italian Journal of Public Health and of Epidemiology, Biostatistics and Public Health. He received Laurea Honoris Causa at Thomas Jefferson University (US) and the title of “Commendatore” of the Italian Republic (Decree of the President of the Italian Republic).
